CANINE MASSAGES.

FOR SENIORS AND THOSE SPORTY-TYPES.

Treat your pet to a session with a trained Canine Masseur. Sessions run approximately 30 minutes, depending on the dog’s size. We offer a sports version for healthy pets or active pets with problem areas—perfect for canine jogging companions. For geriatric or rehabilitating dogs and cats, we offer gentle or “senior” massages.

Sports Massage

Olde Towne Pet Resort offers a non-invasive therapeutic application of massage that is applied to dogs. Sports massage differs from other forms of massage in that it focuses on the cause, not the symptom of the injury to the muscle. The intent is not just to reduce muscular pain, but to help prevent future injuries to the muscles.

Our sports massage is not just for the high-performing athlete but also for the backyard or family
companions. No matter what kind of athlete your dog may be, they experience soft tissue damage just like humans. Massage can reduce the risk of injuries and enhance your animal’s performance.

Senior Massage

Getting your senior dog regularly massaged slows down the slackening of his/her muscles and keeps these muscles toned. It also keeps them healthy and prevents them from gaining too much weight. When the muscles have been massaged, they are looser and it is much easier for your dog to move around. Regular massages also improve circulation for older dogs.

Another aspect of massage for elderly dogs is the ever present threat of arthritis. For many dogs, they can get arthritis in one or both hips. This leads to severe stiffness of the muscles and may even lead to further complications, such as complete change of gait for your dog, therefore leading to a less active lifestyle. Massage can help with the loosening of muscles around the joints, allowing your dog to move in a more natural and free way.
