Recently, various members of the Pet Care staff at our Dulles location successfully completed a private and extensive training session on Pet Safety Preparedness and Pet Emergency Management. The training sessions covered a variety of important pet care emergency topics essential to any quality boarding establishment including:
- Awareness and preparedness
- Advanced approach assessment during pet check-ins
- Ensuring and implementing facility-wide pet-safe operations and procedures
- Animal emergency rescue
- Pet First Aid for dogs and cats
Our president and founder, Ms. Leah Fried Sedwick, is a strong advocate for not only professional development opportunities such as these but also strives to always deliver the highest quality and care for all canine and feline guests who board with us or visit us for day camp.
The pet safety and preparedness course was instructed by local expert and pet emergency management industry leader Ines de Pablo of Wag’N Pet Safety. “The pet care supervisors, counselors and day camp staff I had the opportunity to train were eager for the knowledge I had to share with them,” de Palbo shares. “We used live dogs to perform many of the exercises required during the course to prepare the staff with real-world scenarios. Overall, it was a positive experience. I commend the management at OTPR for seeking to implement such high standards in pet safety preparedness. I am confident patrons of Olde Towne Pet Resort Dulles and Springfield will appreciate the great lengths Sedwick and her senior management staff have taken to establish sound practices and procedures for the safety of their many canine and feline guests.”
